Jenny's Story Patch's Story Socks' Story Gizmo's Story Jewel's Story

My husband had grown up with Shih Tzus all his life.  When we first met, I had already had a senior Dalmatian named Speck and we both knew she would not be with us too much longer.  So we decided that when she passed, we would adopt a Shih Tzu and a Chinese Crested through rescue.

The day finally came when we had to say good-bye to Speck.  We began our search for a Shih Tzu and came upon Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue on Petfinder.com.  There were several dogs available and we weren't really picky.  We just knew that we wanted to honor Speck by giving a home to another deserving dog.

I submitted our application and it was approved!  Shortly thereafter, a home visit was done.  A representative from Fuzzy Pawz came to our home and discussed with us the needs of a rescue dog and explained how their organization works and how to care for a Shih Tzu.

She mentioned to us that they had just got an 8 year old male that had been hit by a car.  He had suffered a broken pelvis, hip, jaw and leg.  His previous owners didn't want him anymore, so Fuzzy Pawz stepped in and paid for his surgeries.  He was home from the hospital, healed and ready for a forever home.  We were so excited to adopt him!

That adoption day was in December of 2002.  What a wonderful Christmas present we got that year!  Socks is the most well-behaved, loving and funny little boy.  We love him dearly.  I can't imagine our home without him.
