After adopting a Shih Tzu from Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue, I definitely decided I needed to help out and join such a wonderful organization. This started my addiction with Petfinder.com!
One day while surfing the web on Petfinder looking for Shih Tzus in kill shelters, I came upon this gorgeous little boy. His picture was so sad, just this little boy looking through the bars of a cage. I took a deep breath and decided I'd wait a day or so, hoping he would get adopted.
Everyday for 3 days, I kept bringing up his bio and looked at his sad face until that Friday; I decided to call the shelter. As it turns out, this was his "last day". I panicked. He was in another state. Luckily, I made a call to one of the other ladies in Fuzzy Pawz. She then made a call to another volunteer who happened to live near the shelter. Thank goodness we got him in time!
After about 3 hours of transports, Patch was delivered to me as my "foster". I called my husband and told him we had a new foster and that he was healthy and quite pudgy! I picked Patch up from our transport meeting spot and brought him home and gave him a bath.
He was chubby, happy, loving and oh so sweet! Patch was content with all my other rescues here. He acted like he had lived here all his life. When my husband came home from work that day, he walked in the door and saw Patch sitting there looking up at him wagging his tail. Then, my husband got down on his knees and started to cry. He said, "He's not going anywhere. Patch is where he is meant to be. He'll live here for the rest of his life." Patch and my husband are completely inseparable, both having found their new best friend.
